Really hoping to be blown away

Sanibel shelling
Doing a 180 from the setting sun.

Sanibel beach at dusk
The sunset isn’t the only show.

Really hoping to be blown away.

Spending a lot of money and placing a ton of trust in someone i’ve never directly worked with before.

How do you feel certain the person you’ve contracted is not squandering their time, effort, and attention on your project?

You don’t.

Well, you find out when the project is done.

And then, if you’re blown away, then you’ll know.

And if you aren’t blown away…

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Note to self, patience (and vision) is a virtue

Note to self, patience (and vision) is a virtue.

In fact, it’s the only way to maintain sanity.

Even driven, determined leaders must exercise patience.

A tree doesn’t grow overnight, but it does grow.

Same with an impossible vision.

Palm trees, sunshine, and the leadership imperative

Florida Coconut Palm
Palm trees and sunshine.

One of the best sources, if not the best source, of vitamin D is sunshine.

Florida is nicknamed “The Sunshine State”.

There’s a reason we’ve lived here since 1984, the year after we married.

Of course there were downsides from moving away from home.

It’s nothing our ancestors hadn’t felt compelled to do throughout the centuries.

Taking risks is part of being a pioneer.

In personal leadership and in business leadership.

Changes in vision, changes in attitude

Beach office
Working this hard comes with the territory.

The main reason people go out on their own is vision. A vision of the future that is better than now. Much better.

With the pressure that only an entrepreneur knows, also comes the joy.

It’s mostly pressure and uncertainty for many years until you become an entity that scales.

Until then, joy is elusive.

Elusive as it may be, it is also remarkably wonderful.

.doing .differently

Sanibel Island map
Travel time approximately four hours. Here’s the final hour and our approach to .doing .differently

.doing .differently

.think .differently is the catalyst for transformation.

Everyone knows you can’t expect different habits to manifest themselves without changing behavior.

Behavior only changes when we have reasons we believe are in our best interests to change.

And even then, the unspoken challenge is that codependency could be invisible and and pervasive.

Think about it.

Comfort and predictability is an awfully compelling excuse not to take risks.

Taking risks is risky.

So is playing it safe.
