Why ask these questions?

I often ask myself, “Are you doing all you can do to embody the ideals of Walt and Roy Disney“?

Another popular question, “Are their values still relevant“?

Still another, “How can I demonstrate those values in the best way possible“?

Why these questions?

Because Walt Disney and Roy Disney were razor-focused on delivering the very best product, pushing boundaries, and growing their business.

That still seems relevant to me.  Does it to you?

Make it a great day.

Scary thought?

If you would have asked me a dozen years ago if I’d ever thought I’d be a public, motivational speaker, I’d have told you, “Not in a million years“.  It was never on my radar, nor was it ever a childhood dream.

You know the scary part?  And by the way, when the scary thought starts creeping into my consciousness, I have to immediately distract myself.  Otherwise, I might get sick.

The scary part is that everyone expects public speakers to be smart and funny.

Smart and funny.

Are you kidding me?

Do what you fear and the death of that fear is certain.  Public speaking also boosts self-confidence.  Self-confidence boosts your leadership thinking.  And that, as they say, could very well be money in the bank.

So today, I’m going to do something I fear, like taking calculated risks to move a great idea forward.  It’s risky because the goal seems impossible to many people.  But that won’t stop me.  Will it stop you?

You know what I love about technology?

We don’t stop doing things because we get old.  We get old because we stop doing things.

I find it very challenging to keep up with it all.  Most do.  But I will not stop trying.

Remember the post from last week, about Tiger Woods’ response to my question?  Reading it again reminded me of the basic premise to being world-class.   It’s so simple and so profound.  It’s become a daily mantra.

Just googled some specific keywords and found a short, but interesting video post.  As soon as I get time, I’d like to post the link so you can see how free technology can help you, and your organization become excellent, or stay excellent.

I plan to be world-class today.   Better get going.  The rooster’s about to crow.

Bigger than the Beatles?

Will Lee Cockerell be bigger than the Beatles?

Do you know who Lee Cockerell is?   You surely know the Beatles.  If you don’t know Lee, you will.

Lee is a Leadership genius.  Seriously.  Lee was Disney’s Executive Vice President of Operations.  There are few jobs tougher than that one.  Lee led Disney brilliantly.

He retired recently and has published a book that is going to help any leader, in any organization, at any level.  It’s entitled, “Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies From A Life At Disney“.

By now, you know you can trust me to tell you the real deal.   If I were you, and didn’t have Lee’s book, I would challenge myself to buy it within 24 hours.

It’s your choice and your future.  It always will be.  I’ll bet many of your competitors have already read this book.

PS.  Lee’s blog said “Creating Magic” has been released in France.  I have a copy in Japanese.  It’s going global.

The one thing your competition may not have done yet?  Execute any of Lee’s common sense strategies and tactics. Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂

Is Your Culture, By Default?

Whether you answer this personally or professionally, the answer should be the same.   And if you’re like I was before I became a professional speaker ten years ago, you aren’t sure what I’m talking about.  Right?

Generally speaking, things happen two ways, by design or by default.

In two hours, I’ll be running my first 5k run in several years.   I started running a decade ago.  After a few years, I needed a “carrot” to keep me motivated.  I ran my first 5k, ever.

In two hours, I’m running the very same 5k.  This is by design.  It’s an historic tradition that has incredible meaning in my life.  I could have picked any 5k to kick off my “comeback”, but I didn’t, by design.

Will you, or your organization, do things with purpose today, or will you drift aimlessly?  Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂
