It’s harder than it looks

Farewell.
Hail.
Mt. Wilbur got a white dusting in July.
The ice quickly melted.
From the car as we drove away from Swiftcurrent Valley.

It’s harder than it looks but so worth investing your life in setting the bar high for personal vibrancy.

Of course, setting a high bar is the start.

Spending your life doing the necessary (hard) work is what fulfills you and leads you to peace and contentment.

A life of ease is hell on Earth.

Are you a thermometer?

Right side…the fireplace is burning. From no electricity, no running water, and a pit toilet to this view and a fireplace that has an on/off switch.

Are you a thermometer?

Or are you a thermostat?

Most leaders are really managers (thermometers).

A true leader is a thermostat, setting the temperature.

This insight transfers to personal leadership.

Most of us are passively living, reacting to almost everything.

And then there are those among us who over-focus on personal structure and processes that allow for proactive, thriving living.

Son, strive for the latter.

And strive sooner rather than later.

New Creative Director is a perfect fit

My Creative Director and i spent two hours last night discussing video marketing.
He paces when he thinks. It’s soothing and inspiring simultaneously.
Our hotel room view is so inspiring. i know it helped both of us think better.
Some context for where the photos were taken.

New Creative Director is a perfect fit.

He has remarkable thinking and storytelling skills for his age.

He also is coming of age: confidence, leadership, organization, and courage.

He’s a perfect fit because he excels where i don’t, and, he removes worries i have that i shouldn’t have.

To everything there’s a season

Beargrass
Beargrass bud…only a matter of days for transformation.
Beargrass
A work in progress. Soon, there will be no flower tip.
Beargrass
Stunning to behold.
Granite Park Chalet drinking water
Filling our water jug.
Look carefully, there’s a bud that’s blooming (center).
Not the beargrass bud, the human bud.

To everything there’s a season.

To each, an appropriate time.

Is this the season?

Is this the time?

Invisible beauty

Search and rescue crews have been working for a week to find a male hiker.

Everywhere you turn, there is beauty.

Often the beauty is invisible.

The uphill climb yesterday created dynamic tension in our group.

Instead of being frustrated with having to carry two backpacks, i rejoiced that i was in a situation where this “inconvenience” was possible.

The mind-shift didn’t change what happened, but it did change the way i experienced it.
