Day 13 CCL, work

17-second video: A Bob Dylan style artist singing about Dancing Woman Mountain.
9-second video: Guess who bought the painting.
34-second video: Just right now i can’t recall her name. She’s going to host “Montana’s Got Talent” late next month in Kalispell. Drew is hoping to win.

Our contribution to the Blackfeet Native Language studies was the purchase of several items in the artist’s hallway behind the main lobby. The TeePee-Grizzly painting by Jeremy Johnson will have a prominent place in our home.

Steve Jobs in a 1983 speech talking about design.

It’s a 2-minute summary of his speech’s key soundbites.

Paraphrasing a line from Steve’s speech, “The 1980’s are a first date between humans and computers.”

The takeaway for me is to challenge my own ability to zero in on, and create simple, unexpected, thought-provoking metaphors.

Why?

Because simple, key, repeatable messages have transformed my ability to lead myself.

And as a self-reminder, i am the CEO of Jeff, Inc.

Chances are you can easily see this application to your own life.

Every CEO is ultimately accountable for all their failures, all their successes.

As CEO of You, Inc — it’s all on you.

At work, as an artist, what heights are possible with your contributions to society?

If you are satisfied with your personal and professional leadership, congrats. Rock on and grow more leaders like yourself. If you’re not satisfied (especially because you’re a high-achiever), watch this 2-min video

Afterwards, have fun, .think .differently and lean into discomfort.

Bonus: The full 55-minute version of Steve’s 1983 speech is here.

Day 10 CCL, work

Water carved rock from a mountain Creek
Avalanche Creek. Photo untouched. Rock touched by relentless water.
12-second video: Worth reminding that this water flow is literally a trickle compared to early Summer.

What do today’s young workers want from a job?

Mental health support, instantaneous feedback, clarity on company purpose and how they fit.

What happens to employees (in any generational category) when they don’t get the most important part of the work experience?

Stereotypically, every generation points fingers at other’s differences.

What do you dream of?

Why?

What are you doing about it?
