One said then the other thought (a little riff)

Leadership is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.

Business Consultants see this all the time…

Leadership is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.

It’s a little bit like a fox in the hen house.

Another one thought, You’re kidding right… you cannot be serious?

Too much preaching and not enough practicing makes a leader ineffective.

How toxic is ineffective leadership?

Just ask the team. They’ll tell you.

Genuine listening implies acting on the most important, overwhelmingly recognizable issues.

And maybe there is one singular issue that has the power to be the game changer.

Then the constituents wait. And wait. And wait.

Why?

Because the people who make the rules have an extraordinary opportunity to lead in an admirable way, and to live by the rules they proclaim.

Otherwise, it’s just another in a long list of busy (and successful, depending on the metrics used) managers talking a great talk.

So the constituents wait for different behaviors that will be easily identifiable.

The behaviors demonstrating commitment, and integrity.

And some leaders wonder why there is silence when they ask for feedback.

Admirable is the only choice

Wells Fargo quote about customer courtesy
True 150 years ago, true today. Passion for serving.

Tomorrow is Easter.

Listening to Jeremy Camp’s Reckless CD.

Use us Lord.

There is no greater leadership than servant leadership.

We know this.

And some are lucky enough to be crystal clear about their passion.

Being on fire with the commitment to live a life so admirable that if someone said something bad about them, no one would believe it.

(how is that possible?)

Christmas day in front of the tree
Four-plus months later, he has yet to read the book (how is that possible?)

Imagine a great group of coaches. Coaches successful at helping others fix their work culture.

And then ask the coaches if they use the same principles they preach in their own internal work group.

Imagine the response.

The obvious answer is ‘yes, absolutely’. But imagine the obvious answer not being the answer.

Now imagine asking jeff noel if his son has read the book, Mid Life Celebration. It was released eight months ago.

The answer would appear to be obvious.

In both cases, what if the the answer included…

Nothing is as it appears to be. -Albert Einstein

In one case, the results are not intentional.

In the other, leadership is using patience as strength.

Thinking differently, and inspiring others to, is Nuwanda’s full time job

inspiring quote
Thinking differently, and inspiring others to, is a full time job for some

Resurrecting Nuwanda?

She (or he) works on a great, high performing team.

A few key metrics indicate effectiveness at what the team does.

Nuwanda, on the customer service metric, delivers double-digit increases in the overall team average score.

Over 60% higher in one category.

Increases of 30, 40, and 50% in every other category except one, in which the increase is a mere 11%.

Thinking differently remains a mere theory for most.

Yet changes everything for those that lead with it.
