Get Used To It

Failure Is Not An Option
Failure Is Not An Option

Impossible is for amateurs.

Impossible is nothing.

If you’re goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

People will call you crazy. Get used to it.

People will tell you it can’t be done. Get used to it.

You’ll want to quit chasing your crazy, impossible goals. Don’t get used to it.

A simple exercise was conducted at my last DI class (Quality Service).

1. Raise your right hand and extend your arm above your head as high as it will go.

2. Now think of a specific goal you would like to accomplish in 2010.

3. Raise your hand higher.

Almost everyone in the room (as far as I could tell) raised their hand by another inch or two. Why didn’t we do it higher the first time? Maybe it wasn’t easy. Maybe we weren’t ready to extend ourselves into new territory. Maybe we didn’t realize our potential to reach high enough the first time.

Keep moving forward. Impossible doesn’t mean never. Tell the Wright brothers it is impossible to fly.

Call me crazy. Please!

We live in crazy times. Crazy problems abound. Sane solutions don’t work.

So, call me crazy, PLEASE! Because, then, I know I have what it takes to survive and solve, vs. getting run over by the crazy train.

PS – I always aspired to one day being called “eccentric.” Well, truthfully, I only so aspired on those rare days when I actually cared what other people thought of me or called me.

Crazy Dede, thanks for visiting.
And thank you for the links you’ve sent about the Gulf Disaster.
Any updates you think readers ought to know but may not know yet?

D2,

You’re crazy. . . NOT!

It sounds like you are one of those who sets a new standard for the status quo. Either you do not care about the status or your quo is out of line.

Whichever it is, innovation, inspiration or invention is the outcome! Keep up the great work!

David, back to your first comment. Maybe we don’t want to raise our hand as high as we possibly can because we might look like a showoff, or worse, CRAZY! 🙂

Impossible that we would both post about impossible on the same day.

Or is it implausible?

Maybe it’s just plain crazy.

Which, in my book, is a good thing.

MIKE!!!!!!

That would have been crazy!! And would have been the BEST response. But it takes that kind of “grandstanding” to get people to notice you and take your craziness seriously.

My classmates and I were all seated. I doubt any of us thought about standing up to raise our hand the highest. It wasn’t a competition but we were limited in our response by staying seated.

If you ever watched the game show “Match Game” there was usually one definitive answer. Standing on the table and raising as high as I could would have been the definitive response!!!

Love it!

D

PS. I’m working on my resume. How can I make it look like I’m standing on the table with my hand raised high above everyone else?

Mike, Dede, David, if you had any idea how much sunshine you all brought to today, you’d be smiling big too. Love seeing you here.
