You Don’t Know Tweet!

1 2 3 4 - That'll Never Happen Again :)
1 2 3 4 - That'll Never Happen Again 🙂

So many business professionals think they know Twitter. They think you Tweet something and the world sees it.

Yeah right. Rubbish.

How do I know? Because I know more about social media than most people.

And there are quite a few who make me look like a beginner. They are years ahead of me, and you.

Social media will not work for you unless you are patiently and consistently using it yourself to promote your own message, and can see your own metrics, to understand what works and what doesn’t.

Jeff, (just in case you don’t already know) you might want to try using hashtags in your tweets. “#” We know twitterville is so vast, and you may have thousands of people that follow you or that you follow, its a way to zoom in. For instance, you will see #nwindiana at the end of most of my tweets because that is the universal hashtag for my local peeps. A quick way to sift through it all, if you will. Search hashtags of your own and see if a lot of people are using them like #exercise or #leadership #running #fitness, etc etc. More people may find your tweets that way.

Donna

Donna and Mike, really appreciate you being part of the community here.
Donna, believe it or not, at the end of the day, I simply pass on spending a few minutes to learn more about #hashtags.

Like most things, I’ll probably laugh at myself because it’s so easy.

You see Ben Reed use them. I see and get to talk to Ben about ten minutes twice a month.

Anyway, Twitter is on my list, it’s just further down. Thank you everyone. Do great work today.

I have no doubt it’s easy.

After getting through, FB, LinkedIn, Blogs, You Tube, email (for two jobs), news briefs, etc, Twitter takes a distant seat in the back row.

This suites me fine for now. 🙂

Do you manually post your blog links to Twitter?
Or is there something within WordPress that does it for you?
If it’s done automatically, it’d be a one-time action to add a general hashtag (#mind #body #spirit #leader) to the template that your blog uses.
If you do it manually, then well, yeah, that’s more to do & nevermind. 🙂

I use a plugin that spits links out. I guess it depersonalizes it a bit, but it’s efficient.

Eh, my two cents, for what it’s worth.
