Some work places are dangerous for completely different reasons

This is the real deal – wild, untamed country – not a movie

In 1973 the first taste of Glacier National Park as a 14-year old, on a three-week Boy Scout, cross-country bus trip.

In 1980, the first back-country overnight camping hike in Glacier. The month prior, a hiker was killed by a Grizzly bear.

Last week, a return to Glacier with Family, as a Dad.

Someone’s child (21-years young and full of life for sure) died from a fall while simply hiking on a trail.

Discovering a favorite place defines us.

Need more time to think about this…

Keeping work organized while having the best vacation ever?

screen shot of iPhoto pictures
Of all the balls we need to juggle in life, work is probably the biggest for many

Please don’t judge.

I work seven days a week to create balance in my life.

So yes, when possible, I checked email.

Like many things, if we do a little everyday, it makes things more manageable.

And this helps us relax.

Relaxing is what vacation is all about.

Insight: Everyday I organized the photos taken (see photo). A few hundred each day. To wait until the end would have meant close to 2,000 photos – overwhelming.

Final downtime and maybe the last ever?

Final downtime and maybe the last ever?

We go on vacation (if we’e lucky) and assume we’ll get to go again and again.

Back to work for however long before we take more downtime (vacation).

If we’re lucky, right?

Or do we think that someone or something will provide advance notice when we’ve taken our final vacation?

The value of one good day

The value of one good day. Invested in a structural system that put us in the middle of everything we wanted to do.

Same goes for work, no?

An early start and a late start are part of the landscape

Two wheat combines and truck
Okay, let’s get to work

An early start and a late start are part of the landscape. Washington State and Idaho wheat farmers harvest from sun up to sun down.

This is assuming their equipment doesn’t break down. Pretty sure AAA doesn’t have easy access to tow them back to their farm.

A great reminder for life in general – so much more goes into what we do – life is difficult, and the risks of unplanned, major challenges are always lurking in the shadows.
