If Disney Ran Your Life

You made it to 60, now what?

Family Christmas
Life is a blur. Enjoy that. Having Chapin along for 19 years has been icing on the cake. So insanely lucky.

You made it to 60, now what?

Live like you mean it.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Read a great book today. A masterpiece in your eyes. Yeah, read that one. Hopefully it’ll only take an hour.

The book is generous, gentle, direct, and compellingly hopeful.

Think deeper, smile more, feel grateful everyday.

Do Not Pass Go

Men vs women

Could This Change Your Life?

Thriving despite the obvious pressures

Midlife career article
This article prompted today’s post.

Biggest takeaway from yesterday’s travel day comes in the form of a question.

How will i navigate the unknown territory of unpredictable health challenges that only come from reaching ages decades from now?

Bonus question:

Is it possible to eliminate, avoid, or minimize the unpredictable with an intentional and balanced wellness focus?

Isn’t this the leadership question of the day:

How to we thrive in an unpredictable future?

First step it would seem, is to get to a place you would definitely consider thriving.

Then do everything in your power to maintain and improve that.

The Disney culture, and maintaining it, is my number one priority. – Michael Eisner 1984 (his first, of 21, year as CEO)

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Being Brave

Leadership decisions will rarely gain 100% agreement

Teen and seniors
An ordinary moment yesterday.

Leadership decisions will rarely gain 100% agreement.

This is insidiously tricky.

When we want to please everyone we do not follow our instinct.

Yesterday my instinct said we need to get outside and walk.

But wait, our time with one of them is limited because he’s over in the adjacent nursing home.

Will we send the wrong message if we leave for an hour? Is it selfish? Is it right? Is it helpful?

When our health is something we are willing defend, we should never lose it.

Never, no matter the cost?

If we’re lucky we will catch ourselves failing

Teddy Bear in Assisted Living Apartment

(photo: Who are any of us to judge another? Do NOT do it. Life will be better.)

Learning not to judge is a lifetime endeavor. We make progress – and then, when and where we least expect it, we catch ourselves (if we’re lucky) failing.

Each time we fail is an opportunity to improve.

This takes guts to believe and and even more guts to embrace.
