Which Leader Are You?

What Type Of Leader Is She?
What Type Of Leader Is She?

Remember last week’s question, “Which are you, interesting or interested?” Let’s play this out at a holiday dinner party.

If you’re interesting, your dinner Guest will leave thinking you are the most important person in the world.

If you are interested, they will think they are.

Ya with me?

Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

Recently read a Facebook update from a friend, and, an aspiring, passionate person who’s launching a new career.

The Facebook update said to this effect, “I didn’t get the job…I learned more in one night than I did in a whole year in school.”

How powerful is that?

When was the last time any of us said something like that?

Do you:

  1. Love to learn at an accelerated pace?
  2. Value a great education?
  3. Act in a manner that mirrors your belief system?

Odds are, we all said, “Yes!”

To all three.

I say, “Doubtful.”  It’s number three that gets us in conflict.

What we see in the mirror and what others see in the mirror, almost without exception, are two different things.

jungle jeff Leadership 101 Tip:

“Leadership  – Inspiring others by the courage of your own example”.

This is the essence of what I personally believe is the ultimate leadership definition.

Perhaps the best way to fully understand its meaning is to re-read it, think deeply about it, and ultimately, evaluate our own “daily examples”.  This would lead us to a “personal leadership score”.

We would base our “score” on our daily leadership example.  And our basis should be brutally honest.

It seems, to me, that on days where I don’t need much courage, I’m probably not a very good example.  Hope today is a courage-filled day for all of us.
