This 43-minute video is packed with subtle business insight from comedian Brian Reagan.

He’s spent a lifetime honing his art.

Three tips i gleaned (without intending to):

  1. Decide what you stand for (he decided to be a “clean” comedian).
  2. Make as many mistakes as you can in order to perfect your art (he worked every night at a comedy club – for 2.5 years. Other wanna-be comedians didn’t invest a fraction of this effort.).
  3. Be aware about what stirs your soul and explore it (his college speech teacher laughed at his jokes – as he walked back to his dorm, he felt special in ways he never had before).

This clip i’ve hyper-linked for you (above) serendipitously came across my path on Father’s Day.

It’s not called Show Show

American Idol 2018
Last night i watched the recorded Finals. As of 6am this morning, i still don’t know who won.

It’s not called Show Show.

It’s called Show Business.

Business.

People ride you when your song drops in the charts, or when it climbs too slowly.

People love you when your song is climbing.

You are responsible for both.

You.

You probably didn’t think being a star involved the business side.

Know what happens if you don’t figure out the business side?

Think “has-been”.

The creative business ideas to put a bigger dent in our Universe

Disney Keynote Speaker jeff noel
Never gets old. In 1982, i looked out the window in the highest room, in the tallest tower. It was dark. And Magical.

The creative business ideas to put a bigger dent in our Universe have to be generated or you don’t have them.

Duh, right?

Idea generation comes from thinking.

Thinking comes from time during your day.

Your day is filled with stuff.

By intentionally carving out structure and processes that you control, you systematically create daily space for creativity to flourish.

In my former life, i would have immediately dismissed the notion of writing seven Disney Business books simultaneously.

Imagine publishing a series of business books based on spending your life learning, doing, and teaching the world-famous Disney culture secrets.

Can you imagine?

Would you rise to the occasion?

Would you announce it at the journey’s start?

Or would you wait until it’s fully completed?

In reality, you’d probably do both and then for good measure, you’d do a third option – a hybrid of the first two.

How Business Advising and Foster Parenting are similar

Disney Creativity Keynote Speakers
Worth a second, closer, look.

How Business Advising and Foster Parenting are similar.

Your love and affection for both are deep and real.

You work like everything matters.

And yet.

And yet there’s a reality that’s hard to shake off.

It is someone else’s company.

It is someone else’s child.

You care so much, and yet you must surrender to the reality that you do not have final say on any outcomes.

PS. Fostering and adopting are distinctly different. You can adopt a child you’ve been fostering, but the assumption in this example is that that never happens.
