One Question A Day?

Would you ignore it even if it could change your world?

Notice the photo below, in the upper right corner, the time reads 3:01am EST. This is 12:01am in Cupertino, Apple HQ.

Apple Watch opening day
Logged in and ready to go the second it became available.

No one is perfect, not even Apple. Store is down.

Apple Watch opening day
Went back to bed and tried again at 3:28am…success.

If someone came along with tools to allow you to speak up, build a platform and show the way, would you?

Could This Change Your Life?

We default to someone else taking initiative

Road hazard from construction site
The wind blew it off it’s foundation into the busy road. Our car in the background.

Why do we default to someone else taking the initiative?

Because:

  • We’re in a hurry.
  • It’s only a little thing, it doesn’t really matter.
  • These things fix themselves.
  • It’s not my problem.
  • Everyone will see it and go around.

But what if someone doesn’t see it in time?

What if something tragic happens?

Could you live with the knowledge that it would have been an easy fix but you didn’t take the time?

What message are you sending to the 14-year old sitting in the passenger seat when you ignore it?

What message do you send when you take action?

Constant, daily choices.

Legacy.

Professionally Speaking

This is the mark of a true professional – of an artist you might say

Pithy quote from famous author
Our obesity epidemic stems from our resistance to change

The c-suite executive said, “They were a tough audience”.

“Yeah”, I said, “But it’s my responsibility to overcome that”.

The next day, anticipating more of the same, from different folks in the same organization, I attacked it completely differently.

Same core, simple, key, repeatable messages.

But with a redirected energy aimed right at their predictable resistance.

I changed. Big time.

This is the mark of a true professional – of an artist you might say.

5 Things to Always Do

Ask yourself, “Am I…..”:

Always changing?

Always growing?

Always working?

Always have?

Always will?

Nice ring to it when you put it together as an affirmation:

“Always changing.  Always growing.   Always working.  Always have.  Always will.”
