Shudder to think

Disney Speaker
The red TED dot on on the left, up on the stage. i’m down on the floor with Anas, an audience volunteer.

Shudder to think.

What if TED thinks i moved off the red dot too much?

It could happen.

i was off the red dot significantly compared to all the TED Talks i’ve watched.

The Herd and The Movement

Think differently
The current Jeopardy phenomenon does it differently than anyone else i’ve seen.
Jeopardy champion
He’s been on such a long win streak that they are giving him time off and then he’ll return to keep it going.

The Herd and The Movement.

The trick to standing out is to be better or different (or both) than everyone else.

If you are doing it like the masses (The Herd) how can you stand out? How do you grab anyone’s valuable attention?

You can’t.

It’s insanely risky to invent a new way – a way no one else has succeeded at doing.

Like a broken record: Taking risks is risky, so is playing it safe.

We know this and respond appropriately

(photo: iPhone screen shot… the magic (aka passion) is drained out of us with, “Quit acting like a child… grown up, etc”)

Funny isn’t it, the way we dream of change and yet do the same routine in spite of knowing better?

Can you picture the fictional Ostrich sticking it’s head in the sand in order to hide?

This is (literally) sickening sad to any soul who views their job as art. Who treats creating magic as a privilege.

How can anyone desire this and not take action to not schlug through their day, day after day?

The triumph is in walking away. Walking away from mediocrity and average.

But how does one decide to simply walk away. Easy. Take the risk.

Taking risks is risky.

So is playing it safe.

We know this.

And do nothing.
