Do something every day that is new and unknown

Sanibel Sunset
Last night.

Sanibel Sunset
Last night. Lots of birds.

Do something every day that is new and unknown.

Three nights on Sanibel Island is a first in over 30 years of visits.

We’ve never been here in November.

Several unique circumstances have us remaining in Florida this Thanksgiving week.

The cooler temps, the lower sun rotation (no need for sunscreen), and the cold sand have shown us a new and different Sanibel.

Be brave enough to inspire yourself.

Given the choice, why wouldn’t we?

Fear?

The unknown.

Uncertainty.

Pain?

Find a million ways.

For example, one (of the million) way i do it: recalling the three days with Dana, Christopher, Will (then 4) and Christopher’s two teenagers from a prior marriage.

Common sense isn’t too common

Disney Keynote Speaker
Removed prices yesterday, in an experiment with a Speaker Bureau. They have asked me to sign an exclusive contract with them. Removing public prices helps their cause. One small step…i can always go back.

When in doubt, just take the next small step.  – conventional wisdom

It’s a cycle worth embracing

Disney Keynote Speaker
Be uncertain, yet advance. Failing comes with anything new. Learn from it. Repeat.

We can bank on being uncertain about many things during our lifetime.

We must learn to live with this reality and find a million creative ways to solve for uncertainty.

For example, be okay with being uncertain, yet advance anyway.

We will often fail because we were uncertain.

Fail away.

Failing comes with anything new.

Embrace it.

Learn from it.

Repeat.

Arms full of the past?

Disney Institute speakers
We did special private sessions for Residents (Doctors in training) in the evening because they were unable to attend during the day.

You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.  – Jan Glidewell
