Super excited because it may not work

Bob Iger envisions Disney becoming the world’s most admired company. He announced this at least a decade ago, but not publicly. We are currently sitting at the #4 spot.

Super excited because it may not work.

What?

Can’t tell you yet.

Why?

Prevailing wisdom says when we announce things we sabotage ourselves because we feel a false sense of accomplishment simply from making an announcement.

This false sense of accomplishment reduces our hunger to act and succeed.

Additionally, research shows that people who privately work on something important make greater progress and finish stronger than the “announcers”.

Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself. Beware of the status quo (announcing what you’re gonna do on social media, like the herd always does) and the ignorant belief that progress has been made simply from typing a bold and inspiring announcement.

Happiest dreamer and doer?

Announced yesterday by D23 in Anaheim.

Happiest dreamer and doer is whom?

It must be you, right?

i mean, why not?

And if it’s not, why not?

If it is, congratulations.

Dream, create, inspire.

You so totally rock, dude.

Yes of course, life is challenging.

It’s challenging for everyone.

Life hack: Use your own criteria for “happy” and never compare. Comparison is the death of joy.

The power of relentless repetition

The Universe “randomly” chose me to learn, work, and teach at the (currently) fourth most admired company in the world. Intimately connected to the Magic of repetition.

The power of relentless repetition.

Will you choose the surgeon who’s completed 1,000 operations or the surgeon who’s completed 10?

Repetition is the mother of all learning.

Repetition enables consistency and consistency is the hallmark of quality service.

The art of branding begins with the extra inch

The effort required to reach this vantage point is part of my personal brand. Getting off the beaten path is part of my personal brand.

The art of branding begins with the extra inch.

How?

Brand reputation is the first thing others think of when they see your face of hear your name.

How many reputations do you have?

We have one with every person we know.

Small, seemingly insignificant gestures (or omissions) create an emotional connection.

When it comes to brand loyalty, emotion trumps everything.

Career surplus

Stumbled upon the fact that the speech has been moved to TED.com

Not every TEDx Talk migrates to TED. The url in these two photos shows the reality.

At the Columbia Falls library, while uploading 600 photos and videos to the cloud, discovered something remarkable (see photo above).

The challenge with every business is, among many things, marketing.

Marketing’s aim is to vie for our attention.

This is borderline impossible.

Son, hoping the short, creative video clips will be a recipe for getting the word out about the TED Talk.
