This one thing determines it all

i define culture simply as, “habits”.

That’s all culture is.

Habits.

What we think and do without thinking.

So yeah, it comes down to the collective individual habits gelling into the collective mass of the organizational habits.

Could be one of my blind spots

Logan Pass
2016 GNP college buddy Dave.

Don’t know if it will last because it’s not my habit, but i’m consciously trying something new.

Rather than send emails as i write them, which happens seven days a week, from 5 AM to 10 PM, i’m not.

i’m holding the weekend and after-hours emails in draft format until the next available and traditional office hour arrives.

Sensing that not everyone is as driven or focused.

Could be one of my blind spots.

Stop putting pressure on yourself to do too much too soon

Gloria Steinem quote about truth
Truth, it hurts and it liberates.

Stop putting pressure on yourself to do too much too soon.

Sure, you promised junglejeff.com goes live tomorrow, July 4th. And this is the third deadline you have created: June 8 your birthday, and June 25 your anniversary have come and gone. Now, July 4th.

Why?

Because you didn’t feel it represented your best foot forward. It is, after all, a Disney Keynote Speaker website.

We all struggle with feeling confident enough to launch without perfection.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

.doing .differently

.doing .differently

.think .differently is the catalyst for transformation.

Everyone knows you can’t expect different habits to manifest themselves without changing behavior.

Behavior only changes when we have reasons we believe are in our best interests to change.

And even then, the unspoken challenge is that codependency could be invisible and and pervasive.

Think about it.

Comfort and predictability is an awfully compelling excuse not to take risks.

Taking risks is risky.

So is playing it safe.

If we let it, our job is a great place to hide

If we let it, our job is a great place to hide.

Meetings, lists, projects.

Managerial stuff.

Makes us too busy for our art.

The work that matters. The work we leave undone.

(pause and think about that, then read on)

Hire someone great at managing things needing managed.

Become reacquainted with your highest form of contribution.

That’s your art.

Transform yourself into the artist you were born to be.

Better late than never.

The hurdle is this: completing the first step, which is recognizing in yourself what you were made to be.
