“To excellence and beyond.”

The goal of great leadership is to inspire every employee to deliver excellence all the time, every time. And to do so willingly and exceptionally.

Guard your secret ingredients

Palm trees reflecting in a window
The woodwork first caught my eye, but it was the faint palm tree reflections that prompted this photo.

You have to want to change everything

Disney Keynote Speakers
Top sentence.

Everything a Customer Service architecture is built for revolves around a simple and profound outcome – creating an emotional connection with every customer interaction.

Sounds impossible.

Right?

Bad news, it’s not impossible.

That’s why so few organizations are world famous for customer service.

And just as important is treating employees as customers – because they are.

To move from where you are now to world-class will require you to change everything.

To better understand how legitimate this concept is, imagine a personal example:  moving from being inactive and merely surviving to becoming active and vibrant; literally a pillar of health and wellness.

An example from these five daisy-chained blog posts.

In early 2009, my record for consecutive days writing five daily blog posts was two days.

i set an impossible goal of writing five-a-day for 100 straight days.

Impossible.

Fast forward.

It’s been 3,200+ consecutive days.

Never missing a single day.

So yes, we are capable of more than we think.

Much more.

Wasn’t fishing for a compliment from the social worker

lightbulb evolution
From the Internet but don’t know who to attribute it to.

i talk and write prolifically about health, wellness, balance, Disney, excellence, death, living, personal responsibility, excuses, and second chances.

In our lengthy conversation, i never shared what i do nor where i spent a lifetime working.

And i certainly wasn’t fishing for a compliment from the social worker.

Spoke with her for 50 minutes. She was a generous listener, a wise counsel.

And at one point she said, “You really have a strong grasp on the issues you face. I talk to many people but I don’t talk to many people who have that.”

While her agency isn’t the right one, she was the right one for the first call.
