Pull A Hamstring?

Let Us Learn From Our Mistakes
Let Us Learn From Our Mistakes

The hamstring muscles are some of the biggest muscles we have.

Tearing a hamstring can have anywhere from a mild to devastating impact.

Same goes for business relationships. A “tear” can have the same range of consequences.

One of the leading contributors to pulled hamstring muscles is over-training.

Same with business.

Work too long and too hard, and you just might “pull a hamstring”.

We All Want The Big 3

Life: Watch it, March in it, or Lead it?
Life: Watch it, March in it, or Lead it?

Stumbled upon an RSA Animate video featuring Dan Pink. Have you heard of this guy? Have you seen his stuff on You Tube?

It blew my mind yesterday. The three things I wrote down from the ten minute video? The three things we all want, and the three things most organizational leadership structure neglects:

  1. Autonomy – shedding status quo
  2. Mastery – our urge to get better
  3. Purpose – deep desire to make a difference

Posted three times here at jungle jeff yesterday. This may not be today’s final post either. I hope you feel energized today. It’s your responsibility.

Had To Do It

Life Is Full Of Dragons To Overcome
Life Is Full Of Dragons To Overcome

Many of you are waiting for the economy to pick up, before you’re willing to work harder and more creatively than in your entire life. Meanwhile, you complain about your situation.

We’re human. These things happen. But why?

Work with me here. When I’m at the track doing speed work and it’s a windy day, I insist on running into the wind. My times will be slower which isn’t as motivating as seeing the wind-aided times.

When doing road work, every time there’s a hill, I run faster up the hill than down. At the gym, no runner works harder on their core than me.

Why? Because the long way is the short cut.

When race day comes, guess who’s the most prepared?

Perseverance

Slow And Steady Wins The Race
Slow And Steady Wins The Race

Determination. Perseverance. Dreams.

Everybody talks about how important perseverance is.  It’s no secret that without big dreams, determination, and steady, committed effort, leaders are doomed to mediocrity.

But when was the last time you told the story of your own success through perseverance?

And how about the time before that? And the one before that one?

Perseverance is a habit.  You either do it all the time, or you don’t do it at all.

And once you learn the habit of never giving up, you will also learn the habit of focusing on your purpose.

And when you finally discover your purpose, well, you know what happens next….
