Most Leaders Never Become Great

Man Will Never Fly
Man Will Never Fly

Misery loves company.

Them and they are four letter words.

Can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Leaders, many of them anyway, fail because they have such a hard time being criticized, even if it’s constructive.

I posted an April Fools bit for jeffnoel.com, but took it down minutes later, after a close friend said it wasn’t funny.

I thought it was, and still do.  But took it down anyway.

Okay, so I’m worried about what others may think with a single April Fool’s blog post?  Now imagine what President Obama must have to deal with.

Just the other morning, this was in our local Orlando Sentinel.  It’s about the insane press one Central Florida Urologist is getting, because he said Obama is bad.

Great leaders must be so passionate about their purpose, that they are willing to take the negative criticism. Otherwise, they will never make it.

Great leaders know that the sky is the limit and small minds will always say otherwise.

And On The 7th Day He….

On the seventh day he rested?

Nope.  He floated.

I spent last week at one of Florida’s best beaches, Sanibel Island.  It was the polar opposite of wearing business suits and standing in front of hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of business professionals, delivering keynote speeches.

In between the Writer’s Retreat I was attending, while my Family relaxed, I had opportunities to join them.

Float.  Swim.  Shell.  Sun.  Shade.  Relax.

It’s no different really than when business professionals visit world-class convention destinations like The Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland, or any of the other great Disney Destinations.

Most business professionals attend programs during the day, and also find time to enjoy some things with their family or friends.

And remember the other day I wrote a post, “Where was Obama”? Do you recall the point I was trying to make? Well, it’s the same point here.

By design, I’ve just shared a small glimpse of jungle jeff you haven’t heard about before.

People ask me all the time, “Where do Central Floridians go to get away”?

The intent here is simply having you see me as regular person, who does the same things everyone else does.  It works for the President.  Maybe it’ll work for me.

Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

JULY 4, 2009

July 4, 2009.   Happy Independence Day!

Started the day running the Watermelon 5k in Winter Park.  Then spent the rest of the day with family and friends .  Now it’s 9:00PM and I’m going to postpone today’s post until tomorrow.

Today, by the way, President Barack Obama’s audio-animatronic figure was unveiled at The Walt Disney World Resort, at the Magic Kingdom’s Hall of Presidents.

Carpe PM, jungle jeff:)
