Being less busy

Disney speaker jeff noel
Signing my first book in 2013.

Being less busy has a downside, contrary to what we thought would happen if we ever had the luxury of a slower pace.

Now, because of Covid-19, we know we have neglected many things.

It’s glaringly obvious.

It’s a long list.

Now a new overwhelm, despite abundant free time – where do we begin?

Dang it, a new jeff noel Disney Business book needs to happen.

The key to making change that matters

All in means all in. Not being all in means exactly that, not all in. Obvious, challenging, and yet the key to it all.

What stifles making change that matters?

A busy schedule.

A lack of balance between the big categories.

Time and competing priorities create the illusion that organizational and personal vibrancy are impossible.

Balancing leaders, employees, customers, reputation, and improvement yields organizational vibrancy.

Balancing mind, body, spirit, work, and home facilitates personal vibrancy.

At the DNA level what makes change happen and last?

Commitment.

Career not-to-do list

Moana in Glacier
Over Moana’s right shoulder is “Angel Wing” in Glacier National Park.

Career not-to-do list:

  • Do not think your efforts alone will be enough to get recognized.
  • Do not neglect your health, and your relationships, for your work.

It’s not a priority sounds like this

Thank you note
Wrote this two days ago and tucked it under Chapin’s blanket so he’d see it before falling asleep.

‘It’s not a priority”, sounds like the following whether we say these two things or not…

  1. i don’t have time.
  2. i can’t afford it.

When something is a priority, we figure out a solution. If we don’t figure out a solution, it’s not a priority.
