The greatest manifestation of leadership is simplicity

Old advertising
An example of real advertising back in the day when money controlled things.

If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t know it well enough.

To be intimate and comprehensive, only then can you point to the thesis.

Make sure every Guest has the best vacation of their entire life.

Every Guest.

All day.

Every day.

Oh, and about the ad (a real ad from long ago), big money can no longer hide the truth.

Business mating

Classroom discussion
Yesterday’s classroom discussion

What is the first stage of management consulting?

Well basically, you’re courting the client and the client wants to know if you’re “the one”.

Business mating.

Simple to grasp.

Yet difficult because of our productivity-driven lives.

Courting takes time.

It is rarely love at first sight.

A simple solution to a plaguing challenge

What would you do with 2,001 books that have errors in them?

Nothing major, but definitely shouldn’t be there.

First, maybe, we would agonize and curse ourselves for our stupidity and carelessness.

No one will complain if the teacher makes things easier to understand. Not the audience anyway.

But folks that think more is more, folks that are much less prone to refining, and folks that have incredible disparity between what they teach and what they do in real life – they will be the first to complain of an excellent teacher’s methods.

And so it goes.

If you’d like to go to my LinkedIn profile and endorse ‘simplicity’ that would be swell. It’s right there next to the other two skills listed: determination and humility.

There is a profound, and enduring beauty in simplicity

The flag went up for Independence Day 2001 (3 months before of 9/11)  and has remained everyday since

There is a profound, and enduring beauty in simplicity. In harmony. In seasonality.

In clarity.

In efficiency.

And ultimately, effectiveness.

Design is so much more than the way something looks. It’s how the whole thing works. And ultimately, design defines our experience.

What if we saw our life as something to be designed?

Something that wasn’t on the surface as much as what it was at the core.

About bringing order to our complexity.
