What’s your superpower?

From Gary V’s LinkedIn feed yesterday.
Always lean in when someone shares a thesis.
Not what i expected.

What’s your superpower?

Teaching.

Seriously, what would you say is your superpower?

Pretty cool exercise because you either know or don’t know.

Knowing is amazing.

Not knowing is a massive opportunity.

If Disney Ran Your Life

A lifetime of deconstructing

Love the Toy Story 4 character. Love that i’ve deconstructed my life and continuously reconstruct it, as seen in this view from Mt. Reynolds (9,156′). This experience crushed the person i used to be with a severe fear of heights.

A lifetime of deconstructing Disney’s DNA so that i can reconstruct Disney’s DNA in brilliantly simple ways in order to be the best teacher.

To teach is to learn twice.

Teach what?

World-class, time-tested, massively-implemented Disney business insights.

My job is to remove the Pixie Dust and Magic from what outsiders think are secrets.

My second job is to reintroduce the world-class Disney basics to outsiders so that they clearly see it’s not a Disney proprietary insight, but simple common sense that uses focus and discipline to flourish.

Focus.

Discipline.

Focus on the basics.

Discipline yourself to never take your eye off of the basics.

You’re welcome.

Teaching slogan
Walking into Epcot yesterday.

Teaching slogan
Asked the 4th grade Teacher if i could take a better photo of her bag.

Spaceship Earth
Texted this to my college buddy so he knew i had arrived.

Disney business author jeff noel
College buddy’s wife took this photo. Writing a quick sentence for a Disney business book.

Test Track outside
Not many take a good look in the center.

Work is only work if you’d rather be doing something else.

Writing never feels like work.

It teaches and inspires me.

Are you writing?

A shoutout to simplicity and mastery

A shoutout to simplicity and mastery.

If you can’t explain things simply, you don’t know it well enough yet. #teach #leadership

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Disney Brand Loyalty Book

What Disney taught me about balance

What Disney taught me about balance…

Disney engrained in me the five keys to world-class organizational vibrancy.

  1. Leadership Excellence
  2. Employee Engagement
  3. Customer Service
  4. Brand Loyalty
  5. Creativity and Innovation

It’s simple:

Leaders set the internal employee service culture, if employees are happy they stay and if they stay they good at what they do.

Employees who are happy and good at what they do create good external service quality which generates customer satisfaction.

Customer  satisfaction is dangerous though because it does’t lead to customer loyalty.

The perception of superior value leads to customer loyalty. Doing more than the customer expects (at every touchpoint with your human resources, physical resources, and processes) creates the consistent perception of superior value.

Customer loyalty leads to revenue growth and profit, which leads to stakeholder value.

Stakeholder value (including non-profits) is the reason businesses are in business.

Profoundly simple.

Ridiculously elusive in spite of the baked in common sense.
