Listen to Walt Disney’s words about technology

There’s a (not too) “hidden” Walt in the background.

Listen to Walt Disney’s words about technology…

Listening to Walt, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Technology has always existed.

What changes is our understanding of what customer’s need and want from our Company and our Company’s collective ability to find any means (often through, but not limited to, technology) to exceed the expectations.

Talking trash at an entirely new level

Walt Disney picking up trash
People go nuts when they see a photo like this. Why? Not sure. What stops any of us from picking up trash all the time? Walt’s actions shouldn’t surprise us.

Talking trash at an entirely new level.

Disney trash cans now have “self-notifying” sensors inside signaling when it’s full enough to be emptied.

The road to excellence has no finish line. Never be satisfied that you have “finally arrived”.

What we really want is change, right?

When you are talking with a client, ask:

  • What change are you seeking?
  • Who will change?
  • Why will they change?
  • How soon will they change?
  • How does the keynote speech ensure the change you seek?

Remind your potential client the reason they’re wanting a live presentation and not a memo or meeting is that your closeness, your energy, your karma, and your humanity are catalysts.

Sparks if you will.

Fire starters.

Simplicity keeps coming up as a brand differentiator

Safari password example
One way i “write down” new passwords.

Told Gary that i use photos to capture notes. He then shared how photos are disrupting the way we do many things – finding new ways to use photos in ways we never used photos before.

And driving home I thought to myself i’d like to disrupt the way people think about leadership, employee culture, customer service, brand loyalty, and creativity & innovation.

To be able to explain how to do it with only three or four critical components.… that’s what’s missing… simplicity…people have too much to remember that they get so caught up in remembering that they don’t have great energy to execute.

But what if they didn’t have to work hard to remember things because it was so easy (to remember) and they could spend all their energy executing their plans?

Now and then at Walt Disney World (reprise)

Disney Bob Iger quote
Excerpt from January 8, 2016 article. PS. Bob’s vision is for Disney to become the most admired company in the world.

Switching gears from Bob Iger to one of my potential clients, also a CEO.

The CEO is calculating. That’s why she has lasted this long and that’s why her business does well economically while many in her industry suffer. She is exceptionally smart, driven, patient, and creative.

It will be interesting to see what happens when we get closer to how much it’s going to cost.

My gut (which isn’t 100% accurate, but it’s close) tells me she’s trying to use time (and patience) as a creative way to get me to lower my price, simply because i’ve invested so many months (near a year now) in tasting the strong possibility of a contract.

Interesting thing though. i’m cut from the same cloth. The person who will prevail is the one who can walk away.

While i hope things will work out, i’ve already envisioned life without this contract.

In a competitive world, i can’t help but wonder if she envisions her organization’s future culture without my help.

Boldness contains many benefits. Boldness also contains the possibility for a crash and burn.
