The Baltimore Sun interview

Participated in The Baltimore Sun interview yesterday at Orlando International Airport just before boarding.

The college admissions director texted me asking if it would be ok.

Of course.

Liberal arts colleges have an opportunity to lead the education transformation.

We randomly found our son’s school, but once we toured it we were sold.

The Baltimore Sun randomly contacted our Son’s college and asked for an incoming freshman parent to interview.

Karma?

Can you please keep me at Walt Disney World?

Canada work permit
Thinning out my Passport yesterday and removed this. Canadian work permit for General Motors Canada.

My scheduling request at Disney Institute:

Please keep me at Walt Disney World, and if you can’t do that please keep me in Florida, and if you can’t do that, please keep me East of the Mississippi, and if you can’t do that keep me in the US, and if you can’t do that, please keep me in North America.

With a college-bound son, the world is the new living laboratory.

Tomorrow’s commute is almost one day

The High Senior Walk Out is something i can plan to attend. Working for yourself has pros and cons. This is a pro.

Tomorrow’s commute is almost one day, and seven time zones away.

The airline’s business class ticket costs $8k and includes chauffeur service from home to the airport, and when returning home, from the airport back to your house.

Have never paid for a business class ticket directly, but indirectly it’s a form of income because the client is spending that money on you.

From #GTEM to #GTEI

College lecture hall
Two days ago there was a chance to see today’s TEDx Talk practice venue.

Today’s TEDx Talk will flow like this:

Thesis

Q. How many Books/articles? (4.7b)

Q. What are they saying? Meet. meet/exceed, exceed

When you exceed you create the “wow-factor”

To exceed (create the wow-factor) we should: Go The Extra _____!

Define Extra Mile: time/place (double lodge/20 yrs)

When recovering and when planning big, but when else?

What about when it’s not obvious to GTEM, day-to-day?

Stand up if you’ve never been asked to share why GTEM is flawed.

Pair, share one reason why GTEM is flawed.

Sit if your answer revolves around: time, $, resources, energy, new standard.

Harsh reality: 3 meals – satisfaction is dangerous. (Say it w/me)

Review: Exceeds = GTEM

  1. Flawed because of 5 reasons
  2. Satisfaction is dangerous

There’s more but this is as far as i got this morning at the hotel before heading over to the lecture hall.

TEDX Talk practice #8

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
Yesterday. Miraculously, the WordPress photo uploader worked this time.
Disney Keynote Speakers
Got “greedy” and tried to upload another photo from yesterday but it didn’t work. So i used this one from last year instead.

TEDX Talk practice #8 at a local hospital (1st photo above) for the CEO and the 20-member executive team.

What is fun about this preparation is balancing the high stakes potential personal outcome and the risk that i may not be ready by April 27. To become intimate with what resonates and what doesn’t, repetition and reflection is key.

There are 17 days days until the TEDx Talk in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, i need to prepare for tomorrow’s marathon podcast recording day.
